At blandy farm/the va state arboretum
What does a typical finished gallery look like for my clients? I thought I would post a demo gallery of this beautiful family's session at Blandy Experimental Farm or the VA State Arboretum in Boyce, VA. I've been photographing the Martin family since before the kids were a part of it, which absolutely blows my mind. Their parents first came to me for couple photos with their sweet pup Levi (RIP old friend), and I've lost track of how many sessions they've done with me since then!
This Photoshoot was my first with them specifically at Blandy or The VA State Arboretum of VA and is one of my favorites with them to date. There are SO many background options at Blandy and when mom mentioned it as a possibility I knew she wouldn't be disappointed.
Mom and Dad do a fantastic job of setting the tone for the session with their kids. As their family has grown with littles over the years I somewhat expect my job to become increasingly challenging, yet somehow it's always easier than expected! Their pro tip? Make a fun evening of it. Follow up your session with a family tradition of an ice cream date as a family! Genius. Can we just admire their incredible smiles in every. single. photo?! All of the kids. All four of them. Total pros!
Ahead of the session mom requested different photos in specific orientations based on how they tend to hang them in their home which I thought was incredible forethought because I was able to capture them just how they plan to display them with some wiggle room for cropping.
I've been to their home for a session and it was so special to me to see their portraits prominently displayed in such a meaningful, central place in their lives. I felt honored and it was beautiful to see their family grow from piece to piece. Talk about emotional though. They grow so quickly!
I thoroughly enjoy working as a team with my clients, and it's so rewarding to see the end result in person. Martin family, you never cease to amaze me. Thank you. It's been a true joy to work alongside you over the years.
but what about black and white photos?
I'm a total sucker for black and white photos. I can't bear the thought of clients not having the option, and since I have a strict no-client-editing policy (for consistent representation of my style and quality assurance purposes), I decided to include black and white digital copies of all images as a bonus gift going forward. There's just something about black and white images that's just... *chef's kiss*
